This model was done for a Hard Surfaces modeling class in Maya 8.5. I wanted to create something that felt like it had substance and weight while still retaining the whimsical rounded edges and decorative flourishes of the original concept art. In a medium where making straight lines is easy, a project consisting of nothing but curves intrigued me. Not to mention I got to indulge my inner architecture geek. 😉
